At Bumble Inc., trust and safety are foundational to our mission to create a world where all relationships are healthy and equitable. When serious harm or risk occurs, our Trust Operations team responds with urgency, care, and accountability — supporting members during some of their most vulnerable moments. As a Critical Response Specialist, you’ll play a hands-on role in protecting our global community and upholding the values that guide how we show up for one another.

This role sits within our Critical Response function, working cross-functionally with Legal, Policy, Product, Engineering, and Customer Experience teams to investigate severe harms and manage sensitive escalations. You’ll operate within established frameworks while exercising sound judgment, curiosity, and empathy, and you’ll use evolving tools — including AI-supported workflows — to help deliver timely, consistent responses rooted in Respect and Excellence.

Please note that this position involves exposure to sensitive and graphic content, including but not limited to vulgar, violent, and sexual content.

What You'll Do
Investigate and respond to time-sensitive, high-risk escalations involving child sexual abuse and exploitation, physical and sexual violence, trafficking, terrorism, and other critical safety concerns, ensuring prompt and responsible outcomes
Review and assess complex cases by analysing user behaviour, evidence, and contextual signals to determine appropriate enforcement or support actions
Respond to urgent requests from government authorities, law enforcement, and NGOs, partnering closely with Legal and Policy teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and care
Support members impacted by safety incidents using trauma-informed, empathetic practices that reflect Bumble’s values of Respect and Courage
Follow established escalation procedures for complex or ambiguous cases, independently managing defined decisions and escalating to senior team members when risk thresholds are met
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify operational challenges and contribute insights that help improve tools, workflows, and escalation processes
Participate in on-call rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support a global community

About You
Typically requires 1–3 years of experience, though we welcome candidates with alternative backgrounds that demonstrate equivalent skills
Experience in Trust & Safety, online operations, law enforcement response, or a related field involving investigation of harmful or criminal behaviour
Demonstrated ability to identify and investigate users who seek to commit serious harm or crimes on online platforms
Experience working with external partners such as law enforcement, government agencies, or NGOs, particularly in child safety and violence-prevention contexts
Comfortable reviewing sensitive and graphic content as a core part of the role, with an understanding of personal wellbeing practices and the importance of seeking support
Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively in fast-moving, high-stakes environments
Clear and thoughtful written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document findings and share information with targeted audiences
A collaborative, accountable working style — you take ownership, work across teams with purpose, and adapt with an agile mindset
Proficiency in Portuguese, French, or another additional language is a plus

AI in Bumble Inc. Hiring
At Bumble, we may use AI tools to support parts of our recruitment process — such as helping us record, transcribe, and summarize conversations, and supporting job alignment by comparing resumes and job descriptions to highlight skills and potential roles that may be a good match. These tools help us work more efficiently and stay focused on you during our conversations. Importantly, all hiring decisions are made by people. AI is used only to support our team’s efficiency and improve the candidate experience — not to evaluate or decide on your candidacy. Participation in AI-supported interviews and conversations is completely voluntary and will not impact your candidacy. If you’d prefer to opt out, simply let your recruiter or interviewer know at the start of a call, or anytime during the interview or conversation. Summaries and related data are retained only as long as needed in line with our internal data retention policies. If at any point you’d like a transcription or summary deleted, please contact your recruiter directly.
