The Trust & Safety team at TikTok helps ensure that our global community is safe and empowered to create and enjoy content across all of our applications. We have invested heavily in policy making, product development, and human and automatic moderation to protect billions of users around the globe from harmful content and abusive behaviors.

The mission of data science is to help Trust & Safety make many good decisions using data. As a member of our team, you are instrumental in ensuring that we use data to keep our users and community safe. You will help scope out projects, ideate on new strategies, and most importantly, use data to find insights, diagnose problems and tell compelling stories. You will partner with a variety of stakeholders across operations, policy, product and engineering teams - both locally and globally.

What You Will do:
- Work with large and complex data sets to support project execution and strategic planning
- Design and monitor core metrics; perform root cause analysis to explain drivers
- Collaborate closely with the global Trust and Safety team, proactively providing insights and recommendations and overseeing the macro direction of the business
- Influence stakeholders through data-based recommendations and mobilize cross-functional teams by telling compelling stories with data to drive business impact and innovative breakthrough
- Use data and insights to form best-in-class heuristics to proactively detect and disarm safety incidents
- Develop metrics and visualization tools to evaluate risks of the platform and the impact of safety strategies

Qualifications
Minimum Qualification(s)
- 5+ years of experience in data science, analytics or quantitative analysis
- Experience working with SQL, ETL, R/Python, Tableau, Excel
- Experience building data infrastructure and implementing reporting solutions
- Experience with creating data visualizations to communicate metric performance
- Independently design, research, develop and apply ML/AI solutions to solve business problems, including prediction, optimization, segmentation and so on. Build evaluation systems for outputs to minimise error and bias and identify root causes such as limitations with model's training data / context window.
- Ability to solve problems using quantitative approaches, strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences to communicate complex concepts and analytical results to drive business impact, and proficiency in English as a working language
- Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering)

Preferred Qualification(s)
- Experience of working in online content platforms, Trust & Safety or risk management
- Experience working with international partners in different time zones
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools and emerging technologies to generate insights, improve workflows and develop new capabilities
- Passion for social technology products and a curiosity to learn and grow with a fast paced company

Trust & Safety
Content that this role interacts with includes images, video, and text related to every-day life, but it can also include (but is not limited to) bullying; hate speech; child safety; depictions of harm to self and others, and harm to animals. Hence, it is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content on a daily basis. ​
