We’re looking for a visionary Product Design Director to lead Bumble’s Core Experience team. This group is responsible for shaping the connective tissue of Bumble’s products — the foundational flows, interaction patterns, and design frameworks that define how users experience our ecosystem across iOS, Android, and Web. As the leader of Core Experience, you’ll ensure that the fundamentals of our product experience — onboarding, navigation, discovery, messaging, safety interactions, and more — are not only consistent and intuitive but also emotionally resonant and aligned with Bumble’s values of respect, excellence, curiosity, courage, and joy. You’ll partner closely with cross-functional leaders across Product, Engineering, Research, and Brand to establish a cohesive product vision and deliver seamless, high-quality user experiences at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and Inspire the Core Experience Team: Manage, mentor, and grow a team of product designers focused on foundational product flows, interaction models, and core UX patterns. Establish clear vision and priorities for what “best-in-class” core experiences should look and feel like.

Define and Elevate Core Journeys: Own critical user journeys (e.g., onboarding, navigation, messaging, safety interactions, subscription moments) and ensure they are delightful, inclusive, and intuitive. Champion accessibility and inclusivity as core pillars of design excellence.

Balance Systems and Experience: Leverage design systems and patterns to scale quality and cohesion, but always anchor decisions in real user experience outcomes. Partner with the Systems team to ensure consistency, speed, and craft across platforms.

Drive Strategic Alignment Across Functions: Collaborate deeply with Product, Engineering, Research, and Data Science to define strategy, prioritize investments, and deliver experiences that resonate globally. Influence product decisions with a holistic perspective on usability, desirability, and feasibility.

Raise the Bar for Craft and Innovation: Set and uphold a high standard for interaction design, motion, and visual polish. Explore innovative approaches to social interaction, connection-building, and trust in digital spaces.

Shape Culture and Community: Foster a culture of user-first thinking, inclusivity, and experimentation within the Design org. Be an ambassador for Core Experience across Bumble and beyond.

Why This Role is Critical

As Bumble evolves into a multi-product ecosystem, the core experiences become the connective foundation that unites our products. This role ensures that every interaction — from a first tap to a meaningful conversation — feels effortless, empowering, and distinctly Bumble.

This role is essential in:
Unifying Our Experiences: Core journeys are where users form first impressions and lasting connections. This role ensures they feel seamless, recognizable, and trustworthy
Accelerating Impact: Strong experience foundations enable product teams to focus on innovation without reinventing basics
Scaling Inclusivity and Safety: Core flows are often the most sensitive — onboarding, reporting, and payments. They must embody our values and set the tone for safe, inclusive interactions
Driving Strategic Value: By shaping foundational experiences, this role influences how millions engage with Bumble every day — and how we differentiate in a crowded market

What We’re Looking For:
10+ years in Product Design, with 4+ years leading teams in consumer product or core experience contexts
Proven track record of shaping and scaling cross-platform product experiences at a global scale
Deep expertise in interaction design, UX research collaboration, and design-to-engineering partnership
Ability to set product-wide design standards while staying grounded in user needs and business goals
Inspirational leadership that fosters growth, inclusion, and creativity
Excellent storytelling, collaboration, and strategic influence skills
Experience working across time zones and disciplines
Passion for Bumble’s mission and values

Bonus Points
Experience in high-growth consumer tech, social, or marketplace products
Expertise in accessibility and inclusive design practices
Thought leadership in the product design community

Why Join Us?

You’ll define the core experiences that millions rely on to find connection and belonging. You’ll shape not just interfaces, but how people feel when they use Bumble. You’ll lead a talented, mission-driven team committed to designing for good. You’ll be building more than features — you’ll be building trust, safety, and belonging at scale.
