Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
1 year of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
1 year of experience in statistical problem solving and analyzing data sets using SQL or comparable coding language (e.g. Python, R, Java, C++).

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
1 year of experience in the Payments industry, working on risk or fraud management.
1 year of experience querying and analyzing data sets using SQL, or similar programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++).
Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Statistical analysis and Machine Learning libraries (e.g., R, Scikit-learn,Tensorflow), Programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++), Large Language Models (LLMs) or Generative AI.
Ability to optimize, automate, and scale processes by identifying workflow pain points.
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

About The Job

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

In this role, you will be responsible for restricting or preventing fraudsters and abusers to ensure a safe and secure payments environment for users. You will identify and solve problems and innovate and optimize processes and tools. You will also work with product and engineering teams to make sure that new products and features provide a safe experience for users.

Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $105,000-$151,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Promote user trust and safety by managing and mitigating payment fraud and abuse for Google products and services.
Investigate fraud and abuse incidents, identify patterns and trends in order to generate holistic risk management solutions, and perform assessment of the risk of products and features.
Perform statistical analysis using payments and risk data warehouse; collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to create and enhance tools, develop signals, improve system functionality, accuracy, and efficiency.
Engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams globally; work closely with engineers, product managers, and various internal and external stakeholders to launch risk mitigation solutions.
Participate in on-call rotation schedule to manage priority escalations that may occur outside of standard non work hours including weekends/holidays.
