About The Role
We are seeking a visionary engineering leader, to lead user management, trust and safety and growth engineering efforts. You'll shape technical strategy, build high-performing teams, and foster innovation while partnering closely Product, Legal and Marketing teams.
The ideal leader would have a strong builder mindset, can drive exceptional high quality execution with a lean team, integrate AI throughout our development approach, and skillfully balance maintaining existing systems while evolving our architecture for the future. Ideal candidates would have prior experience with user identity, user authentication, user profile management, user privacy, social community capabilities and ability to build backend service + APIs for easy client development. Experience with growth engineering, including in-app and user messaging and SEO optimizations, would be an added plus.
As a startup, it is critical the leader thrives in moving with agility and has strong adaptive leadership.
In This Role, You Will
Lead engineering of user management, trust & safety and growth, with the goal of making Quizlet users have a safe, engaging, rewarding and community-driven experience.
Drive execution excellence with a culture of shipping high-quality products rapidly
Integrate AI technologies throughout our product development lifecycle
Build lean, high-impact teams that maximize developer productivity and outcomes
Balance maintaining current systems while evolving toward next-generation architecture
Foster a strong engineering culture centered on ownership, innovation, and quality
Partner cross-functionally to deliver exceptional user experiences
Help shape our engineering organizational structure as we grow
Help evaluate M&A opportunities, partner integrations, and build for future expansions of consumer experiences (such as, games, enterprise)
What You Bring To The Table
10+ Yearlys of engineering experience with 5+ Yearlys in leadership roles
Proven track record of exceptional execution in fast-paced environments
Experience building lean, high-impact engineering organizations
Experience integrating AI/ML technologies into product development
Strong understanding of modern front-end technologies and architectures
Experience balancing system maintenance with architectural evolution
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with education technology or subscription-based products
Strong full-stack technical knowledge across frontend and backend
Experience modernizing legacy systems while maintaining business continuity
Expertise with AI/ML integration in consumer products
Experience with modern web technologies (React, TypeScript, Node.js )
Proven ability to drive innovation within resource constraints

Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a starting base salary of $260,000 - $340,000, depending on location and experience, as well as company stock options
