ABOUT VERIFYMY
Verifymy is a rapidly growing and profitable Trust & Safety tech business dedicated to safeguarding children and society online. We provide frictionless, trustworthy Age Assurance and Content Moderation solutions to help platforms maintain their integrity, protect their reputation, and safeguard their customers.
We have had considerable commercial success already, with marquee clients such as eBay, Google, and Microsoft and strong recurring revenues. Following recent investment, we have some exciting product developments on the roadmap and are looking to scale rapidly.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We're hiring a Founder's Associate to work directly with our CEO across finance, operations and strategy.
This is not a big-company role just running OKRs and calendars. We're a team of 25, which means we expect real ownership early on and the role's surface area is unusually broad.
Some parts of the role are things you might expect (board & investor reporting, special projects, company Ops etc), but we're also looking for someone who can demonstrate strong understanding of corporate finance and a genuine interest in deploying AI to solve internal problems.
Strong analytical skills are at the core of the role. If you enjoy nerding out building and maintaining a forecast model just as much as you enjoy designing an Ops workflow, you'll do well.
You'll have a handover from the outgoing Chief of Staff before he leaves.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Finance, FP&A and strategy
- Own the monthly forecasting cycle: CRM hygiene, customer actuals, and maintaining the master forecast model
- Quarterback the quarterly budgeting process, taking the lead on financial modelling and scenario construction
- Monitor unit economics, pricing, customer-level usage & profitability
- Build and maintain our market sizing models
- Support the CEO in setting and tracking company goals
Board and investor reporting
- Produce the monthly board update and quarterly investor update, coordinating with the CEO and Finance Director
- Ad hoc support managing investors and during fundraising
AI and automation
- AI evangelist: be at forefront of useful AI capabilities and encourage usage across the non-technical team
- Build and maintain automated internal workflows and tooling
- Be the go-to AI consultant for the rest of the non-technical team
Company operations and special projects
- Onboard non-technical new joiners and act as their first point of contact
- Run the monthly town hall: scheduling, agenda, deck and hosting
- Plan the annual company offsite
- Internal information shepherd: own and continually optimise how we organise information & data across the business
- Ad hoc support on recruitment: job descriptions, pipelines, and running the process
- London team socials and office logistics
- Ad hoc projects as they come up
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Please apply even if you think you fall short on a couple of these as we are always open for great people.
- Minimum 2+ years' experience at a tech company or startup
- Strong analytical and modelling ability. You're fluent in spreadsheets and comfortable owning modelling tasks rather than just reading one. We want to see strong analytical skills and a demonstrable understanding of corporate finance, which means time in banking, consulting, or similar could be useful (although we know these attributes can come from a much wider set of career backgrounds)
- Tech-native and AI-curious. We don't expect coding proficiency, but genuine interest in improving and automating internal workflows is critical
- Comfortable with breadth and ambiguity. You'll be context switching frequently and be the go-to person for disorientating problem-solving, so you need to be comfortable with this
- A clear communicator who can work directly with a CEO and function leads, quickly synthesise what actually matters in a situation, and knows how to shape compelling narratives
- London-based and able to be in our Shoreditch office at least three days a week
WHAT WE OFFER
- £70k+ salary based on experience
- Opportunity to join a mission-led, profitable, rapidly-growing company
- Wellbeing Allowance: £50 pcm (with rollover up to 12 months) for fitness, healthcare, mental wellness and spa treatments
- Learning & Development Allowance: £500 p.a. for professional courses, soft skills training, books and conferences
- Work From Anywhere Scheme: 20 days per year
- Cycle to work scheme
- Nursery workplace benefits scheme (salary sacrifice)
- Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
HOW TO APPLY
Please apply at https://forms.gle/wEmGhKw816rAunYb9 with your CV and short answers to the following questions:
- Why are you interested in this role at Verifymy?
- How does your past experience make you a good fit?
- Walk us through your level of understanding of corporate finance.
- How do you use AI?
- What is your earliest start date? The current Chief of Staff (who'll be leading the handover for this role) has his last day on 18/09, so if it's before 14/09 please indicate whether you'd have some blocks of time between now and then that we could use for handover.
Using AI in your application is of course completely fine, but we expect you to stand behind whatever you produce. This means it should be accurate, characterful, and representative of your true potential.
We're reviewing on a rolling basis and moving quickly, so earlier applications are better.
INTERVIEW PROCESS
1st round: 20 minutes, remote
Screening / culture interview with our outgoing Chief of Staff
2nd round: 45 minutes, in person at our Shoreditch office
Capabilities & culture interview with our CEO (who will be your line manager)
Final round: 45m prep + 45m assessment + potential extra time, in person at our Shoreditch office
Technical interview with our outgoing Chief of Staff. You'll be given some tasks that will assess your general problem solving, your familiarity with corporate finance, and your spreadsheet skills. We'll also spend some time to understand your relationship with AI. To be considerate of your time, the entirety of the prep will be time-boxed and in-person, so there's no need to prepare anything else in advance. Depending on who's around we may also ask that you stay around for some short coffee chats with other members of the London office (we'll coordinate exact timings with you in advance).
