Overview

We are looking for a Fraud Prevention Lead to own and evolve our fraud detection and prevention strategy across our platforms. This role sits at the intersection of data, product, and engineering, using advanced analytics, experimentation, and system thinking to identify fraudulent behavior, design prevention mechanisms, and protect both our business and partners.

The ideal candidate combines strong data fluency (analytics + light data science) with a deep understanding of product systems, user behavior, and technical implementation.

You will work closely with product managers, engineers, data teams, and operations to design scalable fraud prevention solutions and continuously improve detection accuracy.


Responsibilities

Fraud Strategy & Ownership

  • Own the end-to-end fraud prevention strategy, including detection, mitigation, and monitoring.
  • Identify emerging fraud patterns and proactively design countermeasures.
  • Define fraud KPIs and continuously track platform risk exposure.



Data Analysis & Modeling

  • Analyze behavioral and transactional data to detect suspicious patterns.
  • Develop and iterate on fraud detection models, heuristics, and scoring systems.
  • Use statistical methods and experimentation to evaluate fraud signals and mitigation strategies.
  • Build dashboards and monitoring systems to track fraud activity and prevention performance.



Product & Engineering Collaboration

  • Partner with product and engineering to design user flows and user verifications.
  • Translate fraud insights into product requirements and technical implementations.
  • Help implement real-time and batch detection systems.



Experimentation & Optimization

  • Design and run A/B tests to measure the impact of fraud prevention mechanisms.
  • Balance fraud reduction with user experience and conversion impact.
  • Continuously improve detection accuracy and minimize false positives.



Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with operations, support, and business teams to handle fraud cases.
  • Establish clear processes for investigation and escalation.
  • Educate internal teams about fraud risks and prevention strategies.



Requirements

Data & Analytical Skills

  • Strong background in data analysis (SQL required).
  • Experience with Python or R for data analysis or modeling.
  • Understanding of statistical analysis, anomaly detection, or machine learning techniques.
  • Experience building dashboards or monitoring tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Metabase).



Product & Technical Fluency

  • Strong understanding of product systems and user behavior in digital platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with engineering and understand system architecture, APIs, and event tracking.
  • Experience translating data insights into product or engineering requirements.



Fraud / Risk Experience

  • Experience working with fraud detection, risk analytics, trust & safety, or abuse prevention.
  • Familiarity with common fraud vectors such as multi-accounting, incentive abuse, bots, or payment fraud.



Leadership & Ownership

  • Proven ability to own complex problem spaces end-to-end.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving environments.



Nice to Have

  • Experience building fraud scoring systems or real-time detection pipelines.
  • Experience with graph analysis, clustering, or behavioral modeling.
  • Familiarity with growth platforms, gaming platforms, or marketplaces.
  • Experience with feature engineering for fraud detection models.
