Generative AI Operations Prompt Engineer, E-Commerce - USDS

The US E-commerce Moderation team is responsible for ensuring our marketplace is safe and trustworthy for users, sellers, and creators. Within moderation, the Automation Operations team aligns with our strategic focus on accelerating AI technology investments. Our mission is to deploy AI-driven solutions and LLM-based automations to streamline workflows and provide a world-class service experience through continuous innovation.

About the Role
As an Generative AI Operations Prompt Engineer, you will drive the transition from traditional knowledge configurations to advanced Large Language Model (LLM) scenarios. You will be responsible for driving model performance and SOP optimization to ensure our AI agents and chatbots provide accurate, policy-compliant, and high-quality resolutions. You will shape new systems in a fast-scaling business, bridging the gap between high-level business strategy and technical AI execution.

Responsibilities
- LLM Scenario Expansion: Expand and migrate service scenarios from traditional rule-based configurations to Large Language Model (LLM) frameworks.
- Prompt Engineering & SOP Design: Design, test, and refine high-quality prompts and automation SOPs based on business strategy, legal compliance, and platform policies.
- Deployment & Verification: Lead the launch, release, and rigorous verification of automation solutions within the chatbot ecosystem to ensure accuracy and safety.
- Performance Monitoring: Establish resolution effect monitoring and feedback loops to identify opportunities for continuous model optimization.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Algorithm and Product teams to enhance modeling capabilities, feature sets, and the overall problem-solving capacity of AI agents.
- Maintenance & Operations: Manage the end-to-end operation and maintenance process for AI-driven service tools, ensuring they remain updated with evolving market needs.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above
- 2 + years of experience in automation, operations, or a related field.
- Technical Proficiency: Direct experience in Prompt Engineering and a deep understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Strong Analytical Skills: Comfortable querying and manipulating data to uncover insights and drive model training.
- Project Design: Proven expertise in designing complex workflows and managing change in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- E-commerce Domain: Experience in E-commerce marketplaces or Trust & Safety environments.
- Global Operations: Proven experience working in a global setup across different time zones and cultures.
- Creative Problem Solving: A knack for turning abstract ideas into actionable AI strategies and navigating ambiguity with agility.
- Technical Agility: Familiarity with Python or data visualization tools to track chatbot resolution metrics.

Job Information
【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $91200 - $160445 annually.​
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).​
