About The Role And Team

As an advocate of Safety at Uber, you will have the opportunity to identify and launch programs that help ensure a safe experience for Consumers, Drivers and Delivery Drivers, across our global marketplace and various product offerings.

We are seeking a self-starter to join Uber's Global Safety team to focus on the development of Uber's global safety policies and standards, and governance over how safety incidents are reported, classified, routed, and audited for high-quality reporting. This includes setting requirements for safety incident auditing, evolving policies and models to detect patterns of fraud or abuse, and

You should be comfortable in an "all hands on deck" environment, love solving problems, thrive in a hyper-growth culture, and above all be passionate about the safety of people and the cities in which we operate. Working with teams across the globe, you'll need excellent stakeholder management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to clearly communicate and present information to seek executive buy-in.

What You'll Do

  • Policy Development: Develop robust platform safety policies and procedures across our Mobility and Delivery lines of business, ensuring alignment among stakeholders with diverse interests. Guide policy operationalization efforts in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders to increase adherence to our Community Guidelines. Proactively use data, research, and community insights to evaluate existing policies, identify improvement opportunities, and drive revisions before issues escalate.
  • Governance & Risk Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments, establish and enforce governance frameworks, and develop controls to manage risks throughout the safety data reporting lifecycle.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identify and address emerging issues, using a data-driven approach for issue identification, root cause analysis, and understanding of safety controls performance. Measure the impact of these issues to prioritize and advocate for cross-functional resourcing of scalable solutions.
  • Collaborate to Solve Problems: Maintain regular communication with senior leaders to update them on emerging safety issues and ensure that mitigation strategies are appropriately prioritized and resourced. Work collaboratively across various teams at Uber, including Product, Data Science, Safety Support, and Legal, to devise effective solutions.
  • Communication & Influence: Craft and convey clear and persuasive narratives from complex data and analyses to influence high-level discussions.

What You'll Need

  • Fluency in data analysis and data-driven decision-making, including proactively using data to surface policy improvement opportunities
  • Ability to design processes in a fast paced environment without a prescribed template
  • Ability to drive consensus and actionable results across highly cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects under competing pressures
  • Must be a flexible self-starter who is comfortable with rapid changes and a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for Safety as it relates to all parties interacting with the Uber platform

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of tech industry or consulting experience in project or program management or operations/strategy roles
  • Strong program and project management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; Influential with great presentation skills and the ability to tell clear, compelling stories out of complex issues and analysis
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing platform policies for tech companies
  • Experience in Trust & Safety, Risk, Marketplace Integrity, Fraud
  • Experience at a technology platform, marketplace, gig economy, e-commerce, social media, dating, or similar trust-based ecosystem.
  • Experience with data taxonomy and auditing frameworks
  • Master's degree
  • Global work experience
  • SQL Proficiency and/or experience with AI generated insights

For New York City, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $131,000 per year - USD $145,000 per year.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $131,000 per year - USD $145,000 per year.

For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $131,000 per year - USD $145,000 per year.

For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
