Sniffies fosters an open, team-driven culture where creativity, collaboration, and a commitment to positively impacting the community are prioritized.

The Role

Sniffies is seeking a senior leader to oversee our Trust and Safety program. In this role, you will serve as the chief architect for advancing our safety ecosystem, ensuring it is prepared to scale alongside the business. You will steer the functional T&S team while partnering with the product and engineering teams to implement user-facing safety features and robust moderation tooling.

As a subject matter expert, you will champion the safe growth of the platform by bringing "safety by design" to the forefront of our roadmap. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a proven track record of cultivating and maturing critical T&S environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Trust and Safety roadmap that aligns with rapid growth and business objectives.
  • Hire and lead a team of Trust and Safety professionals, setting the strategic vision, managing and maintaining Objectives & Key Results/Key Performance Indicators (OKRs/KPIs), defining organizational culture, and keeping a high-performing team motivated and engaged.
  • Define the strategies for moderation and care that are built to scale, including selecting and managing third-party vendors, implementing automated workflows, and ensuring quality standards are set and met.
  • Ensure Community Guidelines set the standards and tone for user behavior, supporting the team in developing operationalized moderation guidance and clear quality check mechanisms.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Product and Engineering teams to develop and deploy user safety features and/or backend infrastructure to detect, review, and react to negative behaviors.
  • Develop structures for responding to emerging risks and able to pivot to address changes in scaled abuse attacks.
  • Act as a final decision maker in critical escalations and situations, prioritizing user safety and platform security.
  • Build data intelligence workflows to monitor the health of the ecosystem, identify spikes or anomalies, and mobilize the team to address changes.
  • Serve as a key internal (and, potentially, external) representative for the Trust and Safety team, building strong partnerships with our internal customers and partners, and helping our external stakeholders understand the scope and success of our trust and safety efforts.

Qualifications and Skills

  • You have 7+ years of experience in trust and safety, including managing diverse working groups and layered organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead with a partnership mindset.
  • You’ve scaled trust and safety, content moderation and policies & compliance in previous roles.
  • You’re an operations pro, with a keen sense of how to distribute work across internal and outsourced teams in an efficient and effective way.
  • You’ve got a vision for the right way to deploy AI and automation in trust and safety contexts, and have the chops to help us bring that vision to life.
  • You’re not afraid to jump in and get your hands dirty with escalations, staying closely connected to our users and their needs, and using your bird’s-eye view of trust and safety functions to identify and act on opportunities for improvement.
  • You’re an exceptional communicator, and know how to build trust through open and transparent engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You’re passionate about helping people find connections and new possibilities safely.
