Minimum qualifications:

  • 7 years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, or related fields.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field.
  • Experience in data analytics, interpreting ML model performance metrics, and understanding technical architecture to identify safety gaps.
  • Experience making business decisions, including identifying gaps or business needs, evaluating product launches, and innovating and scaling solutions.
  • Ability to handle multiple executive stakeholders, influencing safety strategy and operational execution at all levels.
  • Ability to think logically and work effectively in a fast-paced/constantly changing environment and to influence cross-functionally and cross-geographically with all levels of management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. As a Launch Captain, you will architect and execute the safety strategy for high-priority launches in the GenMedia space. You will serve as a trusted partner to executive leadership across engineering, product, legal, and policy. you will proactively identify complex risks and guide mitigation strategies. By translating data into nuanced and actionable risk prioritization. you will directly influence product design and ensure all GenMedia capabilities launch with the highest standards of integrity. Beyond launch, you will own post-launch monitoring to address emerging safety trends. You are a strategic influencer and executor who fosters a culture of excellence, ensuring our safety frameworks evolve alongside emerging GenMedia trends.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$194,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities:

  • Direct the safety roadmap for high-priority GenMedia launches, delivering robust testing frameworks and mitigation strategies for complex user harms and model vulnerabilities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders in engineering, product, and legal, synthesizing perspectives to command alignment on high-stakes decisions.
  • Act as the safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) to embed guardrails directly into the GenAI development lifecycle, ensuring products are safer by design.
  • Convert traffic patterns and safety signals into strategic intelligence. Anticipate emerging risks to influence product roadmaps and drive continuous innovation.
  • Bridge high-level strategy with precise execution, orchestrating complex testing workstreams with partners while serving as the primary front-door for safety-related work.
