We are looking for a Lead Engineer – Privacy & Compliance to join our Data Platform team and play a key role in building and maturing the technical foundation for data protection and regulatory compliance across The LEGO Group’s data ecosystem. You will be based out of our Billund Campus or our Copenhagen Hub - Østergade and act as both a technical expert and strategic partner, ensuring our data systems remain secure, compliant, and fit for purpose in an evolving regulatory landscape.

Core Responsibilities

As Lead Engineer – Privacy & Compliance, you will bridge the gap between legal, compliance, and engineering, turning policies into performant and sustainable data platform solutions. You will partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Security, and Product teams to ensure our data foundations and data usage are compliant by design.

Solution Architecture & Engineering:

  • Translate regulatory and policy requirements into technical implementations across the data platform (e.g., GDPR, data localization, and retention policies).

  • Ensure data handling, storage, and access patterns follow best practices for compliance, scalability, and performance.

  • Collaborate with engineers on implementation details using technologies like PySpark, SQL, and Delta, ensuring performant, reliable, and secure solutions.

Collaboration & Delivery:

  • Set the technical direction for the product team and ensure alignment with product strategy and overall platform strategy.

  • Ensure solutions the right architecture for applications owned by the product team including feasibility, usability, security, scalability and costs.

  • Partner with Product Managers to prioritize and deliver compliance capabilities that support strategic platform goals.

  • Support engineering teams in implementing and validating compliance controls within their data products.

  • Present solutions and principles clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, aligning stakeholders around common objectives.

Leadership & Mentoring:

  • Act as a technical role model within the Privacy & Compliance domain—guiding engineers on how to build compliant-by-design systems.

  • Foster an engineering culture focused on responsibility, transparency, and sustainable delivery.

  • Contribute to Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and drive consistency across teams and domains.

  • Mentor engineers to strengthen their understanding of compliance-related engineering principles.

Strategic Contribution

  • Shape the long-term strategy for privacy and compliance engineering within the Data Platform.

  • Collaborate with other Lead Engineers to ensure alignment across the platform’s architecture and shared capabilities.

  • Contribute to building a cohesive, trusted, and auditable data foundation supporting The LEGO Group’s data-driven journey.
