  • 13 years of experience in data analytics, cybersecurity, program management, business strategy, technology research, anti-abuse, policy or related fields.
  • 2 years of experience in people management, leading teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in relevant field.
  • Experience working with engineering and product teams to create tools, solutions, or automation to improve user safety.
  • Experience working closely with policy teams.
  • Experience with machine learning.
  • Experience in SQL, building dashboards, data collection/transformation, visualization/dashboards, or experience in a scripting/programming language (e.g., Python).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) and the ability to influence cross-functionally at various levels.

About The Job

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. As a Manager for the Content Adversarial Red Team (CART), you will lead the US-based team responsible for conducting adversarial red teaming to uncover new or unexpected loss patterns on Google’s premier generative AI products.

The CART team is a key product area partner and critical part of Google's mission to launch bold and responsible GenAI products. CART works alongside product, policy, and enforcement teams to proactively detect harm patterns and help build the safest possible experiences for Google users.

CART focuses on discovering harmful content, harmful interactions (i.e. agents), neutrality issues, and works closely with other red teams at Google that focus on privacy and security risks.

CART's testing supports Google's more critical, high-profile GenAI launches through innovative red teaming focused on emerging risks and high-priority areas of focus.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $219,000-$305,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Execute CART's priorities and overall coordination. Build a scalable, sustainable program that maximizes the team’s capabilities to deliver high quality red team results.
  • Interface with executive leads and cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure needs are met.
  • Review CART’s analytic products to ensure testing results are actionable and valuable for product teams.
  • Leverage AI augmentation and tooling as you develop repeatable processes that mature CART's program and yields valuable testing insights.
  • Be exposed to graphic, controversial, or upsetting content.
