Work hard, have fun, and make history with Amazon Public Policy. The Manager, Public Policy will have the responsibility to help develop and execute Amazon’s state public policy efforts at the state level in California.

The Manager will create and execute a government affairs strategy to support our policy goals in California. This position also includes effectively educating key state officials and their staff on a variety of policy areas. This position will coordinate advocacy work with trade associations, consultants, and policy organizations.

The Manager will work collaboratively with our policy and business teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. They will assess and anticipate public policy matters, oversee and execute external advocacy efforts, and drive key initiatives. This position will assess and communicate potential government activities back to the business, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions, and help coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with business objectives.


Key job responsibilities
Working in coordination with Amazon’s public policy team, the Manager, Public Policy, will educate government stakeholders on a wide range of policy areas. They will work closely with the Head of California Public Policy, and others in Public Policy to coordinate on advocacy and to represent Amazon issues to policymakers on issues related to our business.

A day in the life
Your day will be a blend of strategic planning, relationship building, and policy development. You'll engage with government officials, craft compelling policy narratives, and translate complex business priorities into actionable advocacy strategies. Your contributions will directly impact how technology and policy intersect, helping to create frameworks that support sustainable innovation. Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- At least 8 years of relevant public policy experience and a keen working understanding of technology policy and related issues
- An ability and desire to travel is required Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, or Law
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $124,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $206,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
