About Data Annotation & Escalation
The Data Annotation & Escalation department works closely with the Data Science team to develop best practices around human annotations of redacted content from the company’s user base. These human annotations train the algorithm and may result in escalations of emergency situations to the proper authorities, re-investigation of corrected analysis of alerts, and recognition of emerging new trends in the lives of kids and families.
Job Responsibilities:
Part-time (PT) Overnight Shift Leads handle emergency escalations, make phone calls to school admins in high stress situations and annotate data snippets. PT Overnight Shift Leads play a critical role in the continual success of parents and schools receiving urgent alerts in a timely manner.
Core Responsibilities
The role is responsible for evaluating and labeling a variety of data such as conversations, audio/visual media, documents, social media posts, etc., to be used for the development of machine learning applications and detecting abuse online.
PT Overnight Shift Leads make important, time-sensitive decisions regarding abuses and emergency alerts, occasionally reporting severe content to authorities.
Shift Hours
20-25 hours/week (not to exceed 30 hours without written approval)
Must be available on holidays and weekends
Scheduled overnight shifts
Availability with reasonable notice to cover full-time leads’ shifts as needed
Any difference in remaining available hours (unscheduled) to be spent annotating throughout the week as determined by the aforementioned time-specific role—overnight shift (12am - 8am ET), not to exceed six (6) hours of annotation per calendar day.
Qualifications
Self-driven, motivated, and enthusiastic to help stop abuse online
Demonstrable experience working with web-based applications
Familiarity with teen lingo and online abuse types
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working in a highly detail-oriented role
Ability to independently make critical decisions
Experience with data labeling, QA efforts, monitoring social media sites/content
