Policy Enforcement Specialist (Overnight) - USDS

The Risk Containment team's mission is to protect the platform and our users by serving as the centralized experts for all critical USDS community guideline escalations. We are dedicated to resolving immediate crises with speed and precision while using data and insights to identify systemic weaknesses. Our ultimate goal is to work upstream with partners to prevent issues from ever reaching the escalation stage, ensuring a safer, more compliant, and more trustworthy environment for our community.


Responsibilities
As a member of the USDS JV team, you will resolve high-priority escalations while supporting Global Risk Containment and cross-functional stakeholders. This role requires expert critical thinking, the confidence to enforce Community Guidelines, and the agility to navigate a fast-paced environment.

Note: This position primarily covers evening and overnight shifts to ensure 24/7 operational support, including a potential on-call rotation and holiday coverage.

Key Responsibilities
Policy Expertise: Interpret and enforce TikTok’s Community Guidelines to maintain platform safety. Stay updated on policy shifts and bridge gaps between Policy, Moderation, and Trust & Safety teams.

Triage & Investigations: Rapidly investigate escalations (e.g., regulatory requests, partner inquiries) across multiple channels with high accuracy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Legal, PR, and Comms to provide real-time summaries and coordinate responses to high-priority incidents.

Crisis Management: Manage ambiguous situations and content (e.g., graphic violence, self-injury) with discretion and resilience.

Operational Excellence: Leverage technical moderation tools to drive strategic risk containment and manage competing priorities effectively.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree OR 1+ year of experience in Trust & Safety, Operations, Content Moderation, or Incident Management.
- Availability to work the 9:00 PM – 5:30 AM shift.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team while maintaining independent productivity.
- A global mindset with an openness to diverse cultures and perspectives.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience in online investigations, content policy, or project management.
- Technical aptitude for mastering complex internal tools and systems.
- Strong interest in current events, ethics, and policy.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a focus on quality and efficiency.

Trust & Safety
Content that this role interacts with includes images, video, and text related to every-day life, but it can also include (but is not limited to) bullying; hate speech; child safety; depictions of harm to self and others, and harm to animals. Hence, it is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content on a daily basis. ​
