Policy Enforcment Specialist, Trust and Safety - USDS

The Risk Containment team's mission is to protect the platform and our users by serving as the centralized experts for all critical USDS community guideline escalations. We are dedicated to resolving immediate crises with speed and precision while using data and insights to identify systemic weaknesses. Our ultimate goal is to work upstream with partners to prevent issues from ever reaching the escalation stage, ensuring a safer, more compliant, and more trustworthy environment for our community.

Responsibilities
You will review and resolve USDS JV escalations while supporting both regional and Global Risk Containment teams and cross-functional stakeholders. This role requires a high degree of confidence in enforcing Community Guidelines, expert critical thinking, and the agility to pivot in a fast-paced environment.

Expertise in Policy
- Interpret and enforce TikTok's Community Guidelines, which help maintain a positive and safe environment for our user community.
- Stay current on key workflow changes and policy updates.
- Leverage unique vantage point to help bridge gaps between Policy, Moderation, and Trust & Safety teams in order to improve policy and process.
Triage & Investigations
- Review, investigate, and process reported escalations and respond to partner inquiries with high quality, accuracy, and speed across multiple channels for TikTok (e.g., escalated user issues, business and partner inquiries, regulatory requests, etc.).
- Provide real-time summaries for cross-functional partners related to ongoing and resolved emergency escalations.
- Partner with cross-functional partners in Legal, PR, and Comms to support external communications that reflect TikTok's response to high priority escalations, while maintaining discretion and attention to detail in complying.
- Deal with escalations, ambiguity and grey areas, and collaborate with subject matter experts to quickly resolve issues.
- Work with issues and content that includes but is not limited to child exploitation, graphic violence, self-injury, suicide - all of which would be considered offensive or disturbing.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or at least 1+ year of experience in Trust & Safety, Operations, Content Moderation, or Incident Management.
- Candidates must be available to work flexible shifts and schedules.
- The role may also require participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation, including holiday support.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in online investigations, analysis, escalations, or operations, content policy, project management, or equivalent relevant fields, such as content policy, project management, or equivalent relevant fields.
- Knowledgeable about current events with an interest in staying up to date on current events.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, prioritize work, and make grounded decisions
- Technical aptitude for learning complex tools or systems required for daily operations.
- Experience dealing with complex, no-right-answer problems; demonstrated critical thinking skills and interest in ethics and/or policy.
- Highly organized with experience prioritizing multiple functions and tasks while managing their work time efficiently without compromising quality.
