Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.
This role is on the Monetized product policy team, a part of the Trust and Safety, Global Policy and Standards team. The role focuses on policy development for Google’s ads policies that address scams & deceptive marketing.
As a Product Policy Specialist, you will advise internal Google teams on core principles, design policies and standards to address abuse risks, and enable responsible growth. In addition, you will engage with subject matter experts and cross-functional stakeholders across Google to design thoughtful cross-prodcut area approaches on key priorities. As an independent, critical thinker, you will bring the investigative excellence to translate intricate problems into scalable solutions at defining precise standards for evolving areas of tech policy. You will balance the legal and regulatory requirements we face around the world with the needs of users, advertisers, creators and publishers, while upholding the company’s core values.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $164000 - $239000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment.
- JD, MBA or Master’s degree in a technical field.
- Experience in policy in the technology sector and key tech policy issues (e.g., privacy, safety, artificial intelligence, content moderation).
- Experience with the ads ecosystem or ad technology.
- Experience combatting online scams.
- Ability to translate complex issues into simple and clear language, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and navigate organizational boundaries.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

- Anticipate policy issues facing product and technology platforms and develop policies and enforcement recommendations on how to address them.
- Lead, develop, and implement policies for Google products, with a view towards user safety and product quality.
- Influence product decisions and prioritization and improve user experience for policy-related issues through collaboration with Product Managers, Engineers, and other Trust and Safety teams.
- Drive awareness and understanding of our product policies within Google and across our user base through research to set industry standards.
- Be exposed to graphic, controversial, or upsetting content.
