10 years of experience in data analytics, trust & safety, policy, cybersecurity, business strategy, or related fields.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD.
Education in, or experience with, machine learning.
Experience in SQL, building dashboards, data collection/transformation, visualization/dashboards, or experience in a scripting/programming language (e.g. Python).
Experience working with engineering and product teams to create tools, solutions, or automation to improve user safety.
Experience using statistical analysis and hypothesis testing.
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

About The Job

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. The Trust and Safety team's mission is to protect and respect Google's users by ensuring online safety in both core and emerging areas. As a Principal Analyst, you’ll collaborate with many teams within and outside of trust and safety. You will partner with the Engineering, Product, Legal, Policy, and Scaled Operation teams to drive critical Google level priorities, operational performance, and lower abuse rates. You'll enable effectiveness and efficiency by driving intent and execution excellence to deliver cross-functional initiatives at scale.

In this role, you will functionally lead team(s) responsible for reducing policy violating activity across all Search, Assistant & Geo products and policies. You will also enable the deployment of key defenses to stop abuse, and lead process improvement efforts to improve speed and quality of response to abuse. You'll identify platform needs/influence enforcement capability design and enable professional/career success for your team.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000-$237,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Lead projects and cross-functional initiatives within Google, interacting with senior stakeholders. Use technical judgment to drive project delivery, challenge proposals and identify risks, manage multiple interdependent projects, and scope against crashed timelines.
Come up with a short & long-term strategy for critical initiatives and unpack it into projects and deliverables for the team. Become the go-to person for issues related to the area of the business and provide partners with insights and analyses.
Perform complex data analyses to derive insights that help identify and fight abuse across our products. Analyze and debug escalations and identify trends that can indicate bigger product risks.
Perform on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis, including weekend coverage. This role works with sensitive content or situations and may be exposed to graphic, controversial, and/or upsetting topics or content.
