The Trust and Safety team at Tripadvisor is responsible for all the user generated content that we receive from our members, which is the very core of our travel guidance offering. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced leader to join our team as a Principal Content Analyst. As the Principal Content Analyst for our Content Moderation team, you will leverage advanced analytics to oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of complex datasets. You will develop innovative methodologies to measure the impact of moderation decisions, produce critical reports and dashboards, and guide the team toward strategic KPIs. In this role, you will spearhead programs that refine content moderation processes, foster continuous improvement, and ensure our moderation efforts align with broader business objectives.

What You Will Do:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of UGC moderation data to identify trends, patterns, and optimization opportunities, translating complex insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams like product, engineering andvendor management  as well as with external industry partners to stay current on emerging moderation practices and implement data-driven solutions.
  • Champion a data-driven culture by fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and best practices that elevate moderation quality, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Develop and implement new methodologies to measure the impact of moderation decisions, using advanced analytics and big data techniques to inform strategic direction.
  • Generate and maintain reports, dashboards, and data pipelines by consolidating multiple data sources, programming algorithms, and automating processes to produce actionable insights.
  • Work on diverse-scope problems where analysis requires evaluating numerous factors, demonstrating sound judgment in selecting analytical methods and techniques.
  • Set and track strategic KPIs for the content moderation team, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and reporting progress and challenges to senior management.
  • Spearhead the creation of specialized programs addressing advanced content moderation challenges, driving innovation and continuous improvement within Trust & Safety.
  • Lead key initiatives that refine and optimize content moderation processes, coding and evaluating large datasets to support decision-making and product enhancements.
  • Advocate for ongoing improvement and learning, guiding team members to explore new technologies and methodologies that strengthen content safety and effectiveness.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven track record of leveraging data to drive strategic decision-making within a fast-paced environment.
  • 8+ years of experience in data operations, data analysis, content moderation or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, including data ingestion, processing, analysis and visualization.
  • Experience developing and implementing data-driven strategies within a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies (SQL, Tableau, Python).
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams across an organization.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and inspire others.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate insights into actionable plans.
  • Passion for innovation and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • University degree or equivalent experience required
  • Knowledge of multiple languages a plus
