ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Privacy Counsel, you will have the opportunity to have an impact in the development of global cutting edge privacy practices and policies, including the development of a compliance-centric product with excellent user experience.

You will report to the DPO & Lead Privacy Counsel,  and will interact on your day-to-day with other Senior leaders and members of the Legal team. This role will require a proactivity, autonomy and problem-solving capacity, which will give you the opportunity to boost your professional and communication skills to the highest level. You will familiarize yourself closely with Fever’s mission and vision, structure, strategy, and objectives, and become one of the key privacy advisors within a fast-paced company undergoing an ambitious international expansion. 

You will be expected to perform the following work, across different jurisdictions:

  • Support the Privacy team in developing Fever’s global privacy program to ensure Fever ongoing compliance with data protection laws across Europe and other international regulations within EMEA, APAC, US & Canada or LATAM territories.
  • Provide advice to other teams of the Legal department and other business units (Product, Marketing & Growth, Sales, Operations, etc.) on requirements and risks from a privacy perspective for informed decision making and privacy-by-design initiatives. 
  • Assistance in the definition of all the requirements and controls necessary for the monitoring of ISO 27001 & ISO 27701 certifications, as well as in management and quality & assurance controls of Fever’s global privacy program.
  • Perform third party services risk assessments (Procurement) and negotiate data sharing/processing agreements and data protection issues within commercial contracts (Legal).
  • Maintain a complete understanding of trends and initiatives in privacy and personal data management in order to provide risk-based strategic advice, enabling business growth without penalizing the UX.
  • Coordinate responses to requests from individuals and law enforcement or government agencies.
  • Provide counsel and oversight on the response to personal data breaches.
  • Identify and escalate any significant or potential data protection or privacy issues. 
  • Collaborative mindset, capable of working effectively and efficiently in a team to accomplish shared goals in an inclusive and open manner. Bring a mitigating control or solution to every issue identified.
  • Assist in design of training on privacy and data protection.

 

ABOUT YOU

In order to be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be a barred lawyer in a EU jurisdiction or the UK is a plus (especially France, UK, Portugal and Germany)
  • Have 6 or more years post-bar professional legal experience focused on the implementation of global privacy compliance programs (policies, procedures, notices, controls, etc.). Ideally at least 4-5 years of in-house experience —preferably in high-growth, technology and direct-to-consumer business.
  • An internationally recognized privacy certification, such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT or CDPP is a plus.
  • Speak fluent English with a command of legal English, with Portuguese, German, French, Italian or Spanish fluency a plus.
  • Previous experience in the implementation and deployment of privacy procedures (data mapping, vendor risk management, data subject requests, etc.).
  • Have an excellent academic record or experience in top-notch companies or top-tier law-firms.
  • Team-player commitment and technology affinity with marketplace platforms and digital services.

This role is located at Fever’s HQ in Madrid, and although we can be flexible with the timing you will be expected to move there if you are currently living elsewhere.
