About The Role

Uber's Risk team is critical to enabling trusted growth across our global marketplace by preventing fraud and abuse while minimizing friction for legitimate users. Maintaining the integrity of our three-sided marketplace, particularly the Merchant ecosystem, is vital for Uber's continued expansion.

In this high-impact role, the Product Manager for Merchant Risk will own a focused and crucial product area. The core responsibility is to enhance fairness, transparency, and fraud prevention for merchants across Uber Delivery globally. This role involves setting the strategy and driving the execution for a greenfield domain, directly ensuring a safe and trusted platform for merchants.

This position is ideal for a strong individual contributor who excels in ambiguous problem spaces and desires hands-on ownership of a single product domain at scale. The PM will partner closely with Engineering, ML/AI, Data Science, UX, and Operations to build practical, data-driven risk solutions that both protect Uber and enhance merchant trust.

What The Candidate Will Do

Own a core Merchant Risk problem area end-to-end, from discovery through delivery and iteration, aligned with Uber delivery strategy.
Define the product requirements and roadmap for internal and merchant-facing risk capabilities. These capabilities must proactively address fraud, abuse, and mitigate unfair outcomes.
Translate merchant pain points, operational needs, and data insights into clear product requirements (PRDs, UX flows, success metrics).
Work closely with Data Science and ML/AI teams to leverage signals, models, and GenAI-powered tooling to improve fraud detection, attribution, and decision quality.
Collaborate with UX and Research to design clear, explainable, and merchant-friendly experiences for complex risk decisions.
Measure impact using well-defined KPIs (e.g., fraud loss reduction, dispute rates, merchant satisfaction, operational efficiency) and iterate based on learnings.
Coordinate with Risk Operations, Support, and Merchant teams to ensure solutions are practical, legally compliant, and operationally sound.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data/Analytics, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications

Domain Expertise: Experience in Risk, Fraud , or Trust & Safety within a multi-sided marketplace, specifically dealing with Merchant /seller trust and risk.
Experience shipping GenAI /LLMs-powered products, including end-to-end lifecycle ownership (data strategy, labeling, model development, evaluation, deployment).
Business Acumen: Proven ability to drive P&L improvements or merchant metrics, with the intuition to understand how risk interventions impact the broader ecosystem levers.
Strategic Judgment: Strong product instincts for navigating ambiguous problem spaces, effectively balancing competing constraints across Risk, User Experience, Operations, and Legal.
