We’re expanding our use of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, to identify and remove unsafe and other regulated items. As a Product Safety Policy Manager, you will administer policies, develop strategies, and oversee program execution to strengthen policy enforcement globally! You will partner closely with Legal to manage risk, collaborate with product management, engineering, and policy operations to implement and optimize solutions, and engage directly with buyers and sellers through research and one-on-one interactions. This role drives measurable business impact while operating within budgets and reports into a global governance organization focused on marketplace integrity.

What you will accomplish

  • Lead global policy strategy for product safety and regulated items, adapting to recalls, safety notices, regulations, and regional variations to protect customer trust.
  • Oversee enforcement effectiveness by designing and executing assurance testing of controls, monitoring performance metrics, and delivering continuous improvements.
  • Develop customer-centric experiences and seller communications that help sellers achieve compliance and improve end-to-end marketplace outcomes.
  • Leverage data analytics to detect trends, patterns, and anomalies, conducting deep dives into seller behavior and risk to inform targeted enforcement.
  • Translate complex insights into clear, actionable recommendations and compelling narratives that influence product, policy, and business decisions.
  • Partner cross-functionally to define metrics and align frameworks that support automation of enforcement actions and scalable, data-driven operations.

What you will bring

  • Dedication to working our Hybrid Model with 3+ days per week in either our Austin, TX office or our Salt Lake City, UT office.
  • 5+ years of experience in ecommerce or related fields across policy, program management, and/or strategy development.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to evaluate controls, monitor performance, and identify compliance risks and trends.
  • Outstanding communication skills—oral and written—including the ability to present compelling narratives to internal and external audiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with Legal, product management, engineering, and operations teams to implement and optimize policy solutions.
  • Functional understanding of the eBay marketplace and broader ecommerce landscape, with a willingness to challenge the status quo and drive positive cultural change.
  • Customer-first mindset that considers seller business models and end-to-end experiences; global orientation with flexibility to work across regions and time zones.
