About The Role

Public Safety Operations at Uber serves as the engagement point for law enforcement and public health authorities globally - ensuring data privacy and promoting public safety.

We are currently searching for an Operations Lead within Public Safety, who will be responsible for providing operational management to the Public Safety Response Team. You will manage people and operations, leveraging contemporary analytical tools and techniques to support your team in responding to complex data requests related to serious criminal investigations.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate excellent judgment, prioritize effectively and work collaboratively whilst under pressure; communicating effectively with partners. The candidate should enjoy a fast-paced environment, dealing with real-time emergencies and have strong analytical skills.

What The Candidate Will Do

Lead and manage a team of PSRT Specialists, providing guidance, support, and development.
Evaluate and respond to data requests in a manner consistent with the privacy and security of business and customer information, in accordance with the law and with relevant policies and procedures.
Drive safety outcomes through the application of critical thinking and adherence to the processes laid down in the Global PSRT playbooks.
Oversee process escalations and collaborate with management to align on priorities.
Contribute to process improvement of procedures, new features/products to reinforce data protection of our users.
Allocate staff in response to demand workflows in accordance with management direction.
Manage internal and external stakeholders through clear, concise and rational communication.
Escalate matters appropriately to the regional PSRT Manager including support to implement remedial actions for post-incident reviews of requests that emanate from within the region's geographical area of responsibility.
Comfortable with working flexibly as part of a globally-dispersed 24/7/365 team. Availability to cover weekend duties and public holidays, as necessary, in order to support business needs.

Basic Qualifications

6+ years in regional/global law enforcement, Trust & Safety, investigations and/or intelligence analysis type roles.
Knowledge and experience related to data protection legislation and criminal/administrative investigations.
Thorough understanding of handling of confidential information and appreciation for privacy protection.
Thorough understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks within the area of responsibility.
Fluent in English and Spanish

Preferred Qualifications

Ideally 1+ years of direct management experience.
IAPP Certification for applicable region preferred.
Experience handling law enforcement requests and public health requests.
General knowledge of privacy legislation: Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) and/or General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
