About Owner.com

Owner is the AI growth system for local restaurants.

Our AI continuously improves SEO, marketing, and online ordering to grow first-party orders. Unlike other companies that force small business owners to master their software to drive sales, Owner gives them a proven system run by experts.

Owner is like having an army of engineers and marketers on your side, just like the big chains.

Our vision

We’re starting by helping independent restaurants succeed online.

But it’s not just restaurants that need our help. Most local businesses are struggling with these same problems. Huge technology corporations are taking their customers, bleeding their profits, and making it hard for them to survive.

Once we nail the solution for restaurants – we’ll scale it into every other local business type.

In the future we envision, tens of millions of local business owners will use our technology to succeed in the digital age.

Our traction

Since 2020, we've generated tens of millions in revenue and processed over half a billion dollars of online orders. 1 in 5 Americans have used an Owner.com website.

More importantly, we’ve helped over 20,000 restaurant owners, and saved them nearly $200 million in fees.

Our team

Our team is now in the low hundreds. We’ve got top talent from the most successful companies in SMB software, including: Shopify, HubSpot, DoorDash, ServiceTitan, Rappi, Faire and Stripe.

We’ll be scaling even faster in 2026 to keep pace with our customer growth.

Where we work

Owner is a remote-first, global company headquartered in San Francisco, with a sales hub in Toronto. For a few of our roles we prioritize in-person collaboration at one of our office locations. Most of our teammates are distributed throughout the globe. Please review the role description and discuss with your recruiter for more details on location!

This role is 100% remote and can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.

Why we're looking for you

Owner.com is building the all-in-one platform that helps independent restaurants grow and thrive. Payments are core to our mission — restaurants depend on us to reliably process orders, pay out on time, and protect them from fraud and disputes. We're scaling our payments platform and need a hands-on risk operator to help run the day-to-day: monitoring transactions, reviewing merchant applications, managing disputes, and helping us build the processes that will scale with our growth.

This is an early and high-visibility role on a lean team. You'll work directly with our Head of Risk & Payments Operations and have real ownership from day one — not a queue monkey, but an operator who will help shape how we work as we grow.

This role is 100% remote and can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.

The impact you will have

  • Execute daily risk operations workflows: triage merchant underwriting applications, manage the transaction monitoring review queue, and process dispute responses with accuracy and speed.

  • Work hands-on in Stripe Radar to build and tune fraud detection rules, manage alert thresholds, and maintain a healthy review queue.

  • Monitor payout operations for exceptions and anomalies — flag holds, negative balances, and edge cases before they become merchant-facing problems.

  • Respond to and resolve disputes and chargebacks, building and maintaining an evidence library that improves our win rate over time.

  • Track and report on key risk metrics — fraud rates, dispute rates, onboarding SLAs, exception aging — and surface trends before they become incidents.

  • Help document, improve, and operationalize risk playbooks as our program matures and volume scales.

  • Collaborate with Support, Product, and Engineering to resolve merchant escalations and surface systemic issues.

Who you'll work with

  • Report directly to the Head of Risk & Payments Operations and work closely with the GM of FinTech & Payments.

  • Partner with the Support team on merchant escalations and fraud-adjacent issues.

  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering on tooling improvements, rule changes, and operational edge cases.

  • Align with Finance on reconciliation exceptions and payout anomalies.

What we're looking for

  • 3-5 years of experience in risk operations, fraud operations, payments operations, trust & safety, or a closely related function.

  • Hands-on experience with a transaction monitoring or fraud tooling platform (Stripe Radar, Sift, Kount, or similar) — or a clear track record of learning tools quickly and getting into the weeds.

  • Comfortable with spreadsheets and basic data analysis; able to pull, slice, and interpret operational data without needing someone to do it for you. SQL is a plus but not required.

  • Strong attention to detail — you spot patterns and anomalies in transaction data and don't let edge cases slip through.

  • Clear written communication: you can write a concise merchant-facing note, a tight internal escalation, and a documentation draft without a lot of hand-holding.

  • Process-oriented mindset: you like things documented, repeatable, and improvable. You write things down.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and self-direction in a lean, fast-moving environment.

  • Bonus: experience with restaurant, marketplace, or platform payments; familiarity with KYB/KYC concepts; experience supporting dispute evidence submission.

Pay and benefits

  • The estimated base salary range for this role is $90,000 - $120,000, plus a generous pre-IPO equity package

  • Other benefits include comprehensive health coverage, remote-first workplace, unlimited PTO - plus extra fun perks!
