  • Experience with internet technologies and the policy environments that surround them.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging public policy trends relating to online content platforms and technology generally.
  • Understanding of YouTube’s primary product offerings and their intersection with the public policy environment, with demonstrated experience advising and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to design and deliver exceptional work product.
  • Strong communicator, writer, and project manager, with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment and exercise good judgment.

About the job:

As a Senior Analyst within the Government Affairs and Public Policy team at YouTube in Singapore, you will play a crucial role in supporting YouTube's policy efforts within the Asia Pacific region. You will contribute to shaping YouTube's regulatory policy strategy by coordinating with various internal teams, including Trust and Safety, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, PR, Marketing, and Product teams, as well as Google’s global Government Affairs and Public Policy team. Your role involves monitoring, analyzing, and helping to distill YouTube's perspective on important public policy challenges. You will assist in developing and implementing public policy strategies and contribute to policy positions for review by YouTube's policy and leadership teams. Your expertise will be used to support external engagement efforts and to ensure relevant and timely internal communications regarding policy developments. You will engage externally and internally on behalf of YouTube. You will need strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to manage multiple projects and respond to policy challenges effectively. You will be part of a closely coordinated Asia Pacific team, which is part of the global YouTube Government Affairs and Public Policy team, impacting initiatives vital to YouTube's mission.

Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments across the region, providing insightful analysis and actionable recommendations to inform YouTube’s overall policy strategy and regional operational planning work.
  • Support the development and execution of core team priorities for APAC YouTube GAPP, working alongside experienced policy colleagues on executive engagement strategies and global stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Assist in developing presentations and materials to support cross-functional annual planning and deliver executive updates on ongoing regional and global public policy strategies across the APAC region.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners within and beyond GAPP, such as Communications and Marketing, to write, develop, and publish high-quality policy-related collateral and educational stakeholder resources and materials.
  • Advise product teams on policy implications during launches, while actively building and nurturing trusted relationships with policymakers, trade associations, industry partners, academics, and key non-profit group allies.
