Position Summary...

Provide strategic advice and legal counsel related to trademark, trade dress, design patent, and copyright matters on Walmart’s online marketplace. Manage complex global disputes and work with legal and business stakeholders to find creative solutions for multifaceted issues, while maintaining an acceptable level of legal risk in a fast-paced environment. The Walmart Marketplace is a powerful, digital-first platform built to help brands and sellers of all sizes grow, scale, and reach millions of customers on Walmart.com. About Team: Intellectual Property Center of Expertise
Join the Intellectual Property Center of Expertise as a Senior Counsel, Marketplace IP. In this role, you will provide advice and counsel to teams working on the Walmart Marketplace.

What you'll do...

· Advising business partners, including the Marketplace and Trust & Safety teams, on trademark, copyright, design patent and fair use issues
· Serving as a subject matter expert on the DMCA in specific and copyright law in general
· Developing anti-counterfeiting best practices and partnering with cross-functional teams to reduce IP infringement
· Supporting and developing content moderation and brand protection workflows across the Walmart Marketplace
· Leveraging industry best practices to build enforcement strategies and efficiencies across multiple teams
· Evaluating tools and features to provide practical and business focused advice that assess global IP risk
· Advising on issues of direct and secondary liability arising from assorted IP issues
· Bringing a strong background in brand protection work, preferably from both a brand owner and online marketplace perspective
· Providing clear and actionable legal counsel on risk analysis and mitigation strategies for trademarks, trade dress, product designs and copyrights
· Working with and supervising outside counsel
· Training clients on IP principles and corporate policies and procedures
· Building and maintaining strong client relationships
· Working collaboratively within Legal and with business partners to identify and execute creative and practical legal and business solutions
· Advising IP stakeholders on trends and developments in IP law
· Working with and supervising the work of paralegals


What you’ll bring…
· You have prior law firm or USPTO experience; additional in-house brand protection experience, particularly with online marketplaces, is a plus
· You have strong business acumen and ability to exercise sound commercial as well as legal judgment
· You have the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple competing deadlines; strong organizational skills
· You are a strategic thinker who can step back and think big picture
· You are a demonstrated team player

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
