We are looking for a talented, innovative, and motivated public policy professional with demonstrated ability to contribute to and support public policy development, including in areas of AI, technology adoption, and digital policies. The successful candidate will orchestrate strategic policy initiatives through close collaboration with public policy and business teams. The role demands a deep understanding of both the evolving policy landscape and our customers' priorities, strategic planning with hands-on execution, as well as expertise in developing comprehensive engagement frameworks to deliver measurable policy outcomes across Central and State governments.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Public Policy to join our Global Public Policy team in India. In this role, you will help shape and drive AWS's public policy strategy and engagement on critical technology issues, with a particular focus on digital transformation, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence policies worldwide.

Key job responsibilities
1. Strategic Policy Leadership
• Develop and execute public policy strategies for AWS's in India.
• Lead engagement with government stakeholders on cloud computing, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.
• Drive thought leadership with stakeholders by creating impactful position papers and policy recommendations on key issues.
• Monitor and analyze policy developments that could impact AWS's business.
2. Stakeholder Management
• Build and maintain relationships with senior government officials, regulators, and key policymakers.
• Represent AWS in industry associations and policy forums.
• Collaborate with internal teams (Legal, Sales, Solutions Architecture) to align policy positions.
• Partner with AWS teams to support business objectives.
3. Policy Advocacy
• Lead advocacy efforts on cloud policy, data governance, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation.
• Provide strategic counsel to AWS leadership on public policy matters.
4. Regulatory Affairs
• Navigate complex regulatory environments affecting adoption of cloud services.
• Work with legal and security assurance and other stakeholder teams on regulatory frameworks.
• Support development of responses to government consultations.
5. Cross-functional Leadership
• Lead a team of policy professionals and collaborate with global AWS public policy teams.
• Partner with business teams to translate policy into business opportunities.
• Work with technical teams to understand policy implications of new services.
6. Thought Leadership
• Speak at industry conferences and government forums.
• Contribute to policy discussions on digital government, cloud computing, and innovation.
• Drive awareness of AWS's capabilities and value proposition.
Basic Qualifications: - Experience in working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies
- 15+ years of public sector business, public sector policy, government relations, or related fields experience
- Deep understanding of India's digital policy landscape.
- Strong network within government and policy circles.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Experience in technology policy and digital transformation.
- Advanced degree in public policy, law, business, or related field.
- Fluent written and spoken English and Hindi. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in technology sector policy and regulatory affairs.
- The successful candidate must be inquisitive, demonstrate high integrity, be enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
- Previous work experience engaging and/or executing digital policy advocacies with central government.
- A good track record of achieving meaningful changes to regulatory environment through public policy advocacy.
- Excellent understanding of political landscape of India at a national and state level.
- Ability to dive deep into political, legislative and regulatory trends at both the national and state government level, that may impact the AWS business.
- Ability to synthesize policy documents for internal and external customers.
- Highly effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and comfortably with senior government officials.
- Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment, decision-making skills, and political acumen, with the ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others as required.
- Maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with a strong professional reputation in the industry.
- Self-starter with a proven track record of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across an organization (especially functions such as legal, security, business and PR), as well as across cultures. Ability to work independently as required.
- Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with external stakeholders.
- Effective time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands on your time.
