About the team and the role:

At eBay, Trust is a critical global function tasked with ensuring the safety of the millions of buyers and sellers on the eBay marketplace. This includes developing best in class detection & prevention systems and protection policies to shield customers from those who attempt to commit fraud on our platform.

eBay’s Trust team is fast-paced, dynamic, and proactive.  In this role, you will focus on three key areas:

  • Improving the buyer and seller experience across the safety measures the Trust team puts in place: that means ensuring that the end-to-end experience and tools the team uses to prevent bad actors from causing issues have a minimal impact and are clear and easy for our good customers to navigate

  • Protecting our sellers from the experience of bad acting buyers, which includes detection and prevention of scams, return policy violations and any form of virtual shoplifting

  • Ensuring Trust is effectively supporting and enabling the strategies of our global business

  • This role will partner closely with key leaders in Category, Product and Risk teams across the company to inspire and earn the trust of our buyers and sellers.

What you will accomplish:

  • Protecting our sellers from bad acting buyers

  • Refining our policies to minimize the potential for abuse and identifying strategic areas where eBay will invest to protect sellers from abuse

  • Partner with our Data Science team and third parties to develop predictive capabilities to identify individuals at risk of abusing sellers on our platform through virtual shoplifting, return policy violations or policy gaming

  • Architecting product changes to prevent these bad acting behaviors and working through the annual planning process to get them prioritized Influencing senior leaders

  • Develop fact-based cases for initiatives you have identified as impactful for our customers

  • Build and deliver high impact analysis and presentations to secure approval and/or resources from senior Business, Product and Risk and Protections leaders

  • Participate in regular forums with leaders across the company to review the progress, plans and impact of initiatives

What you will bring:

We are looking for a results-oriented individual who will have end-to-end ownership of critical initiatives globally and be accountable to hit ambitious targets. We want an individual who is proactive, willing to lead and who can both think strategically as well as lead cross-functional efforts to deliver on key global initiatives. You will also be analytical and fact-based in your decision making.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of work experience preferable in e-commerce companies with roles in trust & safety, corporate strategy, Lean Six Sigma-based continuous improvement, change management and/ or shipping/logistics

  • Track record and proven leadership ability to facilitate and drive process and product improvements

  • Committed to results: biased toward action and constantly pushing towards delivery

  • Ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution: we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well

  • Strong communication and presence, especially with senior leaders of the organization

  • Proven track-record of project/program management, multi-tasking, and influence both with and without formal authority

  • Experience analyzing data sets to provide user behavior insights and tackle business problems

  • Track record of taking initiative and delivering substantial results in your previous roles

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to navigate a cross functional matrixed organizational structure to meet individual and shared goals

Additional Details

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$126,800 - $204,000

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
