We are looking for a Staff UX Researcher to lead research to shape the future of safety for Bumble’s global community and drive product excellence within Bumble’s Trust team.
This is a high-impact, cross-functional role, sitting at the intersection of product, policy and user experience. You’ll work closely with Product, Policy, Analytics, Operations, and Legal to ensure Bumble’s approach to Trust and Safety is deeply rooted in user insights.
As our first dedicated Trust UX Researcher, you’ll operate with autonomy in defining research priorities and approaches and have the opportunity to drive the future of Trust research at Bumble through your subject matter expertise. Your work will drive strategy, execution, and help define industry standards for promoting healthy, pro-social interpersonal behavior.
You will report to the Head of UX Research and will join a close knit team of UX Researchers and Research Operations. UX Research at Bumble is part of the broader Product organisation.
What you'll do
Develop and execute a strategic research roadmap focused on improving safety and trust across Bumble’s products and services
Lead mixed-methods research (qualitative and quantitative) to understand how safety interventions impact user trust and behavior
Work closely with senior leadership to define trust priorities and direction, and collaborate with product and design teams to support development, creating intuitive, effective safety features (e.g. reporting flows, content moderation, and verification tools)
Partner with the policy team to translate platform policies into user-friendly product experiences and build a strong evidence base for safety interventions
Build and maintain a trauma-informed research practice - conducting sensitive research on issues like harassment, abuse, and user vulnerability with care and ethical rigor
Develop a framework to measure and track key safety-related user experience metrics (e.g. trust, perception of safety, effectiveness of interventions)
Build formal networks across multiple teams, business units, and leadership levels to align trust research with company strategy
Act as a thought leader, educating the broader company on safety-related user insights and research best practices
Who you are
10+ years of research experience, with at least 3+ years focused on trust, safety, platform integrity, or related fields
Experience working in fast-paced, high-stakes environments where safety and user trust are critical.Very comfortable operating in ambiguity
Experience and passion for advocating for marginalised and vulnerable communities to drive equitable user experiences
Strong Mixed-Methods Background: Expertise in both qualitative (e.g. user interviews, usability testing, diary studies) and quantitative (e.g. surveys, behavioral analysis) research
Exceptional ability to synthesise and translate complex insights, balancing legal constraints, ethical trade-offs, adversarial behaviours, and platform risks
Trauma-Informed & Ethical: Experienced conducting sensitive research on difficult topics such as harassment, abuse, and privacy
Strong understanding of how to handle distressing content and support researcher well-being
Proven experience working with policy, product, design, engineering, moderation, and operations teams to translate trust-focused research into action
Strong communicator who can influence senior leaders and drive alignment based on research insights

Experience working on Trust / Safety challenges within dating platforms, social media, or other large-scale digital ecosystems
Proficiency in data manipulation, analysis, and dashboard creation with R, SPSS or statistical software.

Base Compensation Range: $129,000 - $160,000. For base compensation, we set standard ranges for all roles based on function, level, and geographic location. This position is also typically eligible to participate in our short- and long-term incentive programs. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) match, Unlimited Paid Time Off Policy.
