About The Role

Strategic Operations Managers in Safety & Identity Operations are responsible for safeguarding the trust of the Uber platform globally. This includes shaping how we verify users, detect and mitigate fraud and abuse, and close systemic gaps that create risk.

This role sits at the intersection of identity, risk, and operations, with responsibility for owning and driving forward key problem spaces related to account integrity. You will uncover vulnerabilities, investigate emerging fraud patterns, and develop solutions that strengthen platform integrity across Uber's lines of business.

We are looking for a highly curious and analytical operator who dives deep into data, asks the right questions, and takes ownership from problem identification through solution execution. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating ambiguity, forming strong hypotheses, and translating insights into clear recommendations, improved policies/processes, and measurable impact.

The ideal candidate combines structured thinking, investigative rigor, and stakeholder influence, and is comfortable operating from strategy through execution in a dynamic, global environment.

What You'll Do

  • Own problem discovery and root cause analysis across identity and account integrity, proactively identifying gaps, vulnerabilities, and emerging risk vectors
  • Analyze large datasets, customer insights, and operational signals to uncover fraud patterns, behavioral anomalies, and systemic weaknesses
  • Develop and drive recommendations to improve internal policies, processes, and controls that strengthen user identity confidence globally
  • Partner cross-functionally (Operations, Product, Policy, Legal, Risk, Engineering) to translate insights into scalable solutions and ensure effective implementation
  • Design, test, and iterate on new detection signals, operational workflows, and enforcement strategies
  • Leverage data and AI tools (e.g., LLMs, automation, advanced analytics) to accelerate investigation, generate insights, and improve operational efficiency
  • Build and own reporting and metrics, tracking identity health, fraud trends, and impact of interventions
  • Communicate clear, data-driven narratives to influence stakeholders and drive action

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, analytics, or a related field
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience using Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis, including the use of Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas
  • Experience utilizing generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, or Cursor) to automate routine tasks, draft technical documentation, or debug code to improve workflow efficiency
  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on fraud, risk, identity, or trust & safety problems
  • SQL proficiency and experience working with large datasets
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to analyze data, automate workflows, or enhance decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to break down ambiguous problems, ask the right questions, and identify root causes
  • Experience turning data into actionable insights and driving decisions
  • Track record of improving processes or influencing policy changes based on analysis
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without authority across global teams
  • Excellent communication skills, including synthesizing complex findings into clear, compelling recommendations
  • Ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and drive multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • High ownership mindset with a bias toward action and execution
