Cloudforce One is Cloudflare's threat operations and research team, responsible for identifying and disrupting cyber threats ranging from sophisticated cyber-criminal activity to nation-state sponsored advanced persistent threats (APTs).

The Platform Abuse team within Cloudforce builds the systems that detect, process, and respond to abuse reports at scale—automating the mitigation of platform abuse including phishing, copyright violations, and other Trust & Safety issues.

As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will own the entire software development lifecycle—from design and architecture to deployment and monitoring—for systems that serve both automated abuse detection and legal response efforts.

You will be responsible for translating complex legal and security requirements into robust, scalable, and high-performance applications that have a direct impact on making the internet better, safer, and more powerful every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, run, and scale distributed tools and services that support abuse detection, mitigation, and Legal Response efforts
  • Develop critical data pipelines and services to collect, analyze, and act on abuse signals at scale
  • Extend, improve, and maintain mission-critical Trust & Safety solutions, including compliance pipelines and abuse scanning tools
  • Collaborate closely with Threat Operations, Trust & Safety, Legal, and Product teams to translate complex technical requirements into elegant, scalable solutions
  • Improve system design and architecture to ensure stability, performance, and maintainability of both internal and customer-facing compliance and security services
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly and contribute to project planning effort
  • Contribute to Operational Excellence initiatives, including improving monitoring, observability, and reliability of production services
  • Write well-tested, modular, and reusable code following engineering best practices

What You'll Work With

Our systems are primarily built with Go and TypeScript, and leverage technologies such as Temporal, Kafka, Redis, Kubernetes, Terraform, and PostgreSQL.

We also dogfood Cloudflare's own products and developer platform. We are looking for engineers with practical experience in our core technologies who can contribute effectively with minimal ramp-up time. We value strong fundamentals and a willingness to learn and adapt.
