Trust & Safety Policy Intern

We are seeking a Trust & Safety Policy Intern to join our Trust & Safety policy team. You will be involved in developing and optimizing rednote's global content and community policies and processes, so as to help the platform's security, compliance, and ecosystem health in international markets.
In this role, you will research and help define our position evolving content risk issues, translate policy principles into actionable moderation and governance standards, and collaborate with cross-departmental partners including legal, product, engineering, and moderation teams. This position requires strong analytical skills, cross-cultural understanding
Key Responsibilities:
Policy Research & Development: Conduct deep-dive research into emerging digital trends, competitor policies, and global regulatory landscapes to inform our policy development.
Data & Trend Analysis: Analyze escalation data, user reports, and enforcement metrics to identify gaps in existing policies and propose data-driven improvements.
Process Engineering & Workflow Design: Map out complex enforcement workflows and construct clear, logical decision trees for content moderators to follow when evaluating edge-case content.
Policy Rollout & Operationalization: Assist in the launch of new platform policies and help translate policy guidance into actionable, step-by-step Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials for global moderation hubs.
Escalation Post-Mortems: Support the team in conducting root-cause analyses after escalations to determine if the failure was a policy gap, a training gap, or a process breakdown and suggest improvements.
Job Requirements:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in the humanities, Law, Business Administration, Public Policy, Information Systems, or a related field.
Strong program management and analytical judgment skills.
Fluent in English and Mandarin as a working language.
Possess cross-cultural communication skills and understand user behavior and cultural differences across regions.
Able to adapt to a fast-paced, multi-timezone collaborative work environment.
Bonus Points:
Experience with content policy on global internet platforms (e.g., YouTube, Meta, TikTok, Twitter/X, etc.).
Familiarity with international platform governance and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, DSA, COPPA, etc.).
