About the Role
We are an early-stage company and need an experienced, independent Trust & Safety professional to serve as our Tier-3 Incident Lead for the highest-severity escalations. Primary focus: child sexual abuse material (CSAM), online enticement, and related mandatory reporting obligations under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, as broadened by the REPORT Act.
This is a specialized, high-judgment role. You will be the final human reviewer who authorizes submission of reports to the NCMEC CyberTipline and helps keep our workflows aligned with 18 U.S.C. §§ 2258A and 2258B. Our detection, preservation, and reporting pipeline is automated; every report Haiven submits is reviewed and authorized by you first.
Who We Are
Haiven is a real-time social and distribution platform for games: chat, direct messaging, community hubs, developer studios, and a virtual economy, used by real developers and players. Safety is built in by design. Our platform includes a dedicated, internal Trust & Safety classifier that flags apparent violations and routes them to an isolated, access-controlled review queue. You will be the human judgment at the end of that pipeline.
What You'll Do
- Review critical incident flags for apparent CSAM, child sex trafficking, or online enticement of a minor, including coercion or enticement of a minor into illegal sexual activity.
- Complete our Tier-3 review checklist before any NCMEC submission:
- Confirm an apparent violation exists and assess imminent risk to a minor.
- Verify report completeness, including user identifiers and full communication context.
- Ensure related files and enough chat history are attached to substantiate enticement or coercion concerns.
- Confirm preservation, integrity, and access-minimization controls are active and logged.
- Authorize (or decline) transmission of finalized reports to the NCMEC CyberTipline within our internal 24-hour target from the logged moment Haiven became aware of a violation.
- Confirm account action and required preservation after NCMEC confirmation.
- Handle preservation, retention, and lawful law enforcement requests per our written SOP.
- Keep every review objective: decisions rest on documented platform evidence, free from personal bias, user disputes, or external pressure.
- Protect purpose limitation: preserved CSAM or enticement data must never be routed into general AI training or commercial analytics.
- Advise on process improvements so the automated workflow stays legally compliant, including access controls, audit logging, and NIST-aligned security of preserved material.
- Maintain strict need-to-know access; all viewing of visual depictions is logged.
Who You Are
- Prior hands-on experience as a Tier-2 or Tier-3 reviewer on a platform handling CSAM or extreme-harm cases.
- Direct experience with NCMEC CyberTipline reporting (or equivalent child-safety mandatory reporting).
- Comfort working with raw content, metadata, and legal preservation holds under controlled conditions.
- Strong judgment, clear documentation habits, and the ability to operate independently.
- Willing to work under strict access controls and sign an NDA and IP assignment agreement. We conduct reference checks and identity and employment verification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting early-stage companies on a fractional or retainer basis.
- Working knowledge of 18 U.S.C. §§ 2258A and 2258B, including REPORT Act changes to reporting scope and preservation.
- Experience with hash-based detection, evidence preservation, and chain-of-custody practices.
- Experience helping engineering teams design or audit automated detection-to-report workflows.
- Familiarity with gaming, real-time chat, or social platforms, and the enticement patterns that show up there.
Working Arrangement
- Fractional / retainer model. Scope and hours are defined in the agreement: a modest weekly retainer plus on-call response for escalations.
- Remote. Access is limited to the isolated review queue; no general platform access.
- Psychological support resources are provided given the nature of the work.
What We Provide
- A clear written SOP for the Tier-3 workflow.
- An isolated, access-controlled review environment.
- A legal and technical point of contact for workflow questions.
What We Offer
Retainer plus on-call/escalation rate commensurate with experience and credentials. Meaningful, mission-critical work protecting young players on a platform built for gaming communities, in close collaboration with a small, focused team.
