Checkr is hiring a Director, Legal Product & Privacy to lead its Product & Privacy legal function as the company continues to scale its data platform for risk, safety, and compliance.

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this role is responsible for setting the strategic direction for product and privacy legal support across Checkr’s portfolio, including workforce screening, risk intelligence, consumer profiles, lending, and emerging data products. The Director will serve as a senior legal partner to Product, Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, and executive leadership, ensuring products are compliant, commercially viable, and positioned for long-term growth.

In this role, you’ll provide high-impact counsel on consumer protection, privacy, data protection, and AI-related legal issues, advising on frameworks including FCRA, CCPA, GDPR, HIPAA, GLBA, BIPA, and related global regimes. You’ll support strategic enterprise customer engagements, oversee legal guidance for critical incidents and high-risk initiatives, and deliver thought leadership on regulatory and industry trends to customers and internal teams.

You’ll also lead and scale the Product & Privacy legal team, building durable coverage across products, reducing key-person risk, and ensuring the function operates as a proactive business enabler rather than a blocker. This role requires strong judgment, technical fluency, and the ability to calibrate legal risk in alignment with business objectives.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience advising technology products in highly regulated environments, a strong command of privacy and consumer protection law, and a proven track record of partnering with commercial and product teams in high-growth settings.
