Senior Policy Specialist, Child Safety

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 5 years of experience in a policy, legal, Trust and Safety, or technology environment.
• Experience related to non-consensual intimate imagery or child safety.

Preferred qualifications:

• JD, MBA, or Master’s degree in Child Advocacy or Social Work or centered on the well-being and protection of children.
• Experience with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policy.
  
• Ability to track record of working in complex policy compliance, content analysis, or Trust and Safety.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

Trust and Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. The Global Policy and Standards team is made up of subject matter experts who promote user trust and uphold Google’s policies. In this role, you will focus on driving the strategy and policy to help ensure Google has policies across its products to address egregious harms related to non-consensual intimate imagery and child safety. You will be part of a team that is part of a cross-functional effort to address child sexual abuse and exploitation online in order to promote and protect user safety.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $129,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities:

• Work with sensitive content or situations and may be exposed to graphic, controversial, or upsetting topics or content.
• Drive the development of strategies and policies to ensure Google's products have policies for addressing egregious harms, specifically those related to non-consensual intimate imagery and child safety.
• Develop foundational policy principles to protect child safety online and fight the spread of non-consensual intimate imagery. Manage high-impact policy escalations and suggest policy and process improvements.
• Work cross-functionally to develop and launch products that promote user trust and uphold Google’s policies.
  
• Track industry trends related to non-consensual intimate imagery and child safety, analyze policy issues facing technology platforms, make recommendations on how to address these issues across multiple Google products.
