About the role

As a Sr Product & Privacy Counsel, you will partner closely with product, engineering, security, trust & safety, and business teams to provide strategic legal advice on privacy, data security, integrity and platform governance issues across the product lifecycle.

An ideal candidate is business-minded, practical, and comfortable advising on complex and evolving legal frameworks affecting privacy and technology platforms globally. This role will be instrumental in helping our teams launch and scale innovative products responsibly and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key legal advisor to product, engineering, and cross-functional teams on privacy, data protection, and data security issues throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Provide practical, risk-based counseling on product features, data uses, personalization, advertising, user consent, retention, and privacy-by-design principles.
  • Advise on legal and regulatory issues related to content moderation, platform governance, online safety, and trust & safety operations.
  • Support compliance with global privacy and platform laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, COPPA, DSA and other applicable international, federal, and state laws.
  • Partner with security and technical teams on incident response, data governance, and security-related legal matters.
  • Draft, review, and advise on privacy disclosures, product terms, internal policies, data processing terms, and other user-facing and internal documentation.
  • Conduct legal reviews of new products, features, and initiatives, identifying risks and offering creative, practical solutions that enable business goals.
  • Collaborate with public policy, compliance, and trust & safety teams on regulatory developments and implementation strategies.
  • Help develop and improve internal processes, guidance, and training materials related to privacy, product counseling, and platform compliance.
  • Monitor and interpret emerging laws, regulations, enforcement trends, and industry standards relevant to social media, online platforms, artificial intelligence, and digital products.
  • Provide vital support for the business's day-to-day legal need.

Qualifications

  • J.D. degree and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • At least 5-8 years of relevant experiences related to Privacy from legal firm or Product Counsel from in-house practices.
  • Significant experience advising on product counseling, privacy, data protection, and technology matters.
  • Strong familiarity with global privacy and platform legal frameworks, including GDPR, COPPA, CCPA/CPRA and DSA.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to balance legal risk with business and product objectives.
  • Strong drafting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience working closely with product managers, engineers, and other technical stakeholders in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
