Regional Manager, State and Local, Southeast, Government Affairs and Public Policy

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of experience working on technology policy issues within the government, lobbying, or political campaigns.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in government relations, political campaigns, public affairs, or external affairs in the southeast region.
• Experience working in state government, leading policy, or public affairs work for third-party organizations (e.g., lobbyist or running campaigns).
• Ability to integrate public policy advocacy with public affairs, communications, business strategy and corporate development.

In this role, you will manage our various public policy and product-related agendas with policy makers inside and outside government with a focus on the southeast region.

Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities:

• Help create a positive regulatory environment to allow growth, protect products, and promote a free and open internet. Help craft, monitor, analyze, and influence state and local policy positions on current and future policy issues of importance to Google. 
  
• Work with trade associations, industry partners, non-profits, and other organizations to promote and build support for Google's policy positions. 
  
• Educate stakeholders on Google's key policy positions and contributions and impact of products and services.    
• Develop community engagement strategies within the region to ensure Google continues to be an active and responsive corporate citizen.  
• Identify policy issues that may affect Google, understand the impact on Google business and users, and participate in policy campaigns with clear goals to shape a policy or set of policies.
